La Suzy is proud to announce that our reusable period bed mat has been awarded the Great British Entrepreneur Award in the Early Stage Standout category. This recognition highlights our commitment to improving menstrual confidence for school-aged girls, young girls, and women, while addressing one of the most common yet often overlooked challenges: period leak anxiety. As a UK wellness brand focused on sustainable period care, this award marks an important milestone in our mission to support teens, young menstruators, and women through practical, reliable menstrual solutions.
Addressing a Widespread Issue
Period leak anxiety is a common yet often overlooked challenge affecting the confidence, sleep quality, and school participation of young menstruators. Research from Plan International UK (2022) revealed that nearly half of girls—49%—have missed school because of their period, with fear of leaks and stains being a major contributing factor.
La Suzy’s reusable period bed mat was created as a practical response to this need. Soft, discreet, waterproof, and highly absorbent, it offers reliable overnight protection that supports girls through the early years of menstruation, as well as during sleepovers and school trips. Its washable design also ensures a sustainable, long-lasting solution for families.
The Great British Entrepreneur Award recognises founders making a meaningful social impact, and La Suzy was honoured for its commitment to tackling leakage-related anxiety—a barrier that continues to affect the wellbeing, confidence, and educational experience of school-aged girls.
The Story Behind the Product
Founder Pam, a mum and chemical engineer, created La Suzy after witnessing how deeply leak anxiety affected young girls. The bed mat was developed as a simple, thoughtful solution that could reduce stress and help girls feel more confident in everyday moments.

“We are truly honoured to receive the Great British Entrepreneur Award. This recognition fuels our mission at La Suzy to tackle period poverty and make sustainable period care accessible to all. It reflects the dedication behind our work and strengthens our commitment to driving menstrual equity,” said Pam, Founder of La Suzy.
A Commitment to Education and Access
Beyond the product, La Suzy runs free educational webinars for tweens and teens, helping them understand their bodies and approach periods with greater confidence. The brand also collaborates with schools and youth organisations, offering bulk discounts and reduced-rate mats to ensure wider accessibility.
